This Opera tells the story of Eliza, a sister-wife living in an FLDS commune, who decides to escape with her daughter after off of the children have been taken after a government raid. Inspired by the 008 raid at the Yearning for Zion Ranch in Eldorado, TX, Dark sisters explores the complicated relationships of this family, and the emotion suppressed by the ever-faithful wives, and their exploitation by not only their Prophet, but secular media as well.
These dresses all have pretty much the same shape, but I wanted to pull out each sister's autonomy with small details on the dresses through box pleats, pin tucks, buttons, etc. Eliza's track starts with a very light blue that fits within the concept of the other sisters, and as she emotionally detaches further and further from the church, her hue becomes more intense and separate from the pallet of her sisters.
